SINGLE TOOTH DENTAL IMPLANT

Dental implants offer the best solution for replacement of missing or failing teeth. Dental implants are now considered as the only natural way to replace teeth. This is because dental implants function precisely the same way as natural teeth do.

Dental implants are titanium screw that  are surgically placed into the jaw bone in place of the missing tooth. Because they are biocompatible with human body, dental implants bond strongly with the jaw bone and provide an extremely strong and safe foundation for porcelain teeth.

Dental implants can be used for the replacement of a single tooth, multiple teeth, or even for the reconstruction of the entire mouth in people who have lost all their teeth. They are also widely used in with denture to provide better fit, support, and stability. This treatment is called snap on denture or overdenture.

Many terms are used to refer to dental implant treatments, such as all on 4, all on 6, teeth in a day, implant dentures, snap on dentures, overdentures, single tooth implants, multiple teeth implants, and more. An experienced dental implantologist should carefully evaluate your specific condition and determine what treatment would best suite you.

Of course there is vast amount of information available online which would definitely help you educate yourself about the benefits of dental implant,(link to page “Dental Implant Advantage”) what dental implants are and how they work (link to page “What Are dental Implants”). It would be best if you could use the online information to learn as much about dental implants as possible before selecting a dental implantologist to do your treatment.

The following case provides detailed explanation in a single tooth dental implant.

This is an actual patient of Dr. Khazian and all treatment related to this single tooth dental implant was completed by him. It is important to mention that this patient sought only the replacement of an upper missing tooth with a single tooth dental implant, and although he could benefit from additional treatment to improve his overall smile, he decided to defer those treatments to a later time due to financial considerations.

The goal of this treatment, as determined by Dr. Khazian and agreed upon by patient was to replace the missing tooth with a single dental implant tooth that would best blend into the patients existing smile. This required a very careful surgical approach to preserve the gum architecture and making the final tooth with appropriate color and contour.

Dr Khazian has a very special interest in dental photography and uses a special wide lens camera to take quality before and after pictures. The following photographs were taken in the office by Dr. Khazian. The following images are depicted here without any alteration.

This image shows an upper missing tooth in a 65 years old male patient. Tooth was lost due to decay and fracture. Other front teeth have old crowns with colors that do not quite match with other teeth. These crowns have also dark/black discolorations around gum areas due to gum recession. Other natural teeth are severely stained or discolored. Patient was informed about these issues and suggested appropriate treatment to correct them but he chose to defer those to later due to financial considerations.

The fractured tooth was carefully extracted a titanium implant placed, using the least invasive approach. Preserving the integrity of the gum to prevent shrinkage and scar formation is of outmost importance. The treating dental implantologist should be extremely knowledgeable and skilled to be able to perform these dental im[plant procedures with excellent predictable result.

Final single dental implant tooth is manufactured very carefully to match the color and have natural looking contours. CAD (computer assisted design) and CAM (computer assisted milling) technology is now used to carefully design and manufacture these teeth. These technologies are extremely precise and effective. Teeth manufactured using these technologies are strong, durable, and beautiful.
